Very old Spanish tiles have a hand-painted design on a smooth surface. Tiles are chunky and have the aged patina one would expect of a tiles this old. These come from Norman Karlson’s vast collection of tiles. Photos taken from his refernce book are show with this pattern, which he numbered 1145-H. These pieces were cut from the larger tiles. Mr. Karlson, owner of Country Floors, traveled the world collecting antique tiles. He published books covering American art tiles made in the USA.
