Lamosa Framed Tile with Dancing Couple

$650.00

Lamosa Ladrillera, Monterrey, Mexico    circa 1940's

The tile features two wonderful dancers on a patio with a hanging light in the background.  It looks like a combination of at least ten different colored glazes, both matte and satiny.  The piece is very detailed using the cuerda seca or dry line method.  The back of the tile reads in the clay, “Ladrillera Monterrey, S.A. Made in Mexico.”   Lamosa is an acronym for Ladrillera Monterrey, S.A. (La mo sa).  Not sure how old the wood frame is, but it is beautifully detailed.   The company started as a brick maker in 1890, but changed its name to Ladrillera Monterrey, S.A. in 1929.  Some of the same artists that worked here also worked at San Jose Pottery.  Ready to hang.

8" x 8" Excellent condition
